Soigné Garden (pronounced swän yā) is replacing City Tap in Midtown, at 848 Peachtree St NE. The restaurant held what it called its “grand opening” on December 31 by way of a New Year’s Eve bash hosted by American Rapper Fabolous (John David Jackson), according to an Instagram page for Soigné Garden. But a rep for the restaurant said Soigné Garden is still several weeks out from its debut.

The “black-tie affair” was attended by American rappers and husband and wife Offset (Kiari Kendrell Cephus) and Cardi B (Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar), among other entertainers.

Details surrounding Soigné Garden are scarce, but Hannah Kang, who has served as General Manager for Grand Hustle Records — an Atlanta-based hip hop record label founded by American rapper T.I. and his manager Jason Geter — filed permits for the restaurant earlier this year. Kang is listed as the applicant.

Kang on multiple occasions confirmed the plans for Soigné Garden in texts, emails, and phone calls with What Now Atlanta, but would not share project specifics. It wasn’t until the final week of 2021 that Kang revealed the Soigné Garden name after months of outreach from the publication. Soigné Garden is also listed in the bio on the Instagram page for “DOC who has ties to Allure Gentleman’s Club, Heet ATL, Old Atlanta, and Grand Hustle.

“My team and I are looking to create a new experience in Atlanta,” DOC posted to Instagram around the time permits first surfaced for Soigné Garden. “The first and most important component we will need to assist us is a Chef! With that being said where is the best Chef in Atlanta?”

In mid-December, the City Tap space played host to a rodeo-themed birthday party for Big Latto (Alyssa Michelle Stephens), an event designed by Kang who, through her business MusicBusinessPolitics, creates events for high-profile clientele, mostly in the music industry.

Kang and her team went as far as creating permanent-looking signage that went up outside the former City Tap space leaving nearby residents like David Holt — who supplied the images included here — wondering if a restaurant called “Big Latto” would open there.

Soigné Garden held a hiring fair in mid-December seeking a chef, and wait, bar, and hookah staff, asking interested candidates to bring a “picture and resume.” Aside from a registered website and the Instagram page, no other details exist online.

[Editor’s note: this article was updated Jan. 3, 2022, to clarify that the restaurant’s official opening is still a few weeks away. An exact timeline was not disclosed.]
