American gastropub City Tap is nearing its Midtown debut.

It will open early 2019, at 848 Peachtree Street NE, in space formerly occupied by Gordon Biersch, according to a press release Wednesday.

City Tap will serve varying beer styles including many picks from local breweries like Monday Night Brewing, Orpheus Brewing, Wild Heaven Beer, SweetWater Brewery, New Realm Brewing, and many more.

“Atlanta is a natural fit for us with a robust local beer scene that we look forward to supporting and serving,” Brian Harrington, founder of City Tap, said in the release.

“We can’t wait to open in Midtown, bring something new to the city, and welcome guests for good food and beer.”

The gastropub’s menu will source local and regional foods when available.

“Standouts” include Elote “Street Corn” Dip with jalapeño, chili powder, cotija, cilantro, and chips, Ten-Spice WingsCorn and Crab Hushpuppies with citrus remoulade and honey-thyme butter, and Honey & Goat Cheese Wood-Fired Pizza.

City Tap will be housed on a property that featured a mansion in the 19th century with Atlanta’s first residential tennis court.

It was procured by the American Red Cross in the mid-1900s before the current structure was built by Gordon Biersch in 1999.

The building includes 10,000 square feet of restaurant space with a covered patio, a mezzanine with a full bar and two private dining spaces, and first-floor dining with seating for over 100.

Its interior will sport a mix of rustic and industrial elements including iron framework, reclaimed wood, and copper and stone bars.

High tops will anchor the main floor.

Alongside the front of the restaurant will be a brick patio featuring a firepit and lounge-style seating.

Around the corner, a double-sided bar will open to the interior on one side and onto a long patio for al fresco dining.

This will be City Tap’s seventh location nationwide, joining City Tap restaurants in Boston, D.C., Nashville, and Philadelphia, where the company was founded in 2010.
