The 19,000-square-foot co-working facility debuted this week as neighboring businesses including Lenox Marketplace-anchor Target was still closed as of Tuesday following ongoing protests and riots spurred by the in-police-custody-death of George Floyd last week in Minneapolis.

Roam’s neighbors Lenox Square, Phipps Plaza, and several Shops Around Lenox retailers—which did not open Monday—also remained dark Tuesday with no clear timelines on reopening.

“We are monitoring the situation daily,” a management office staffer at Lenox Square on Tuesday told What Now Atlanta (WNA) over the telephone.

“While Target and Dick’s Sporting Goods were affected over the weekend, we are thankful that all of our Lenox Marketplace neighbors have now resumed operations and are welcoming guests in their stores,” a Roam spokesperson told WNA in an email.

“In our current environment, we believe that providing a safe, comfortable, and friendly place for people to return to work is impactful. And we’re excited for the opportunity to do that here in Buckhead as our community feels comfortable.”

Roam Lenox Marketplace is the sixth outpost for the co-working company, all of which are in the Atlanta area including a second Buckhead location, at 3365 Piedmont Rd NE #1400.

“In a world that is desperately looking for a better way to work, Roam’s multi-functional
workplaces offer an energizing, productive, and fun alternative to distracting home offices and corporate environments,” Peyton Day, Roam’s CEO, said in a prepared statement.

“We are excited to open our largest Roam location to date. The opportunity to reinspire work and meetings here in the Buckhead community motivates our team and fuels our mission.”

Roam Lenox features 19 meeting rooms, 15 private offices, and 17 “dedicated desks” in addition to ample table, lounge, booth seating in the shared workspace, and a coffee bar.

  1. I’m wondering if the recent COVID-19 circumstances will positively or negatively affect the success of these shared work spaces.

    1. I’d say coworking space is very negative short term, possible boom long term.

The coworking space I’ve been using has totally cleared out and it’s unclear when or whether people will return. But, there are so many companies looking at giving up all of their office space, bigger picture there’s a potential boom if even a small percentage of those workers choose coworking space to get out of the house.

      1. Yeah, I think at this point a lot of people have set up home offices, but when the dust
settles, I guess there will be those folks that want to work away from the family etc.
