Sisters Zainab Turay and Aminata Keister make up the team behind this Press Waffle Co. location, one of five vendors recently announced for the upcoming food hall.

“It’s been a long time coming, looking for a location in and around the Atlanta area,” Turay told What Now Atlanta. “This was a perfect one for us.”

A concept featured on ABC’s “Shark Tank,” Press Waffle Co. serves authentic sweet and savory Belgian waffles. The dough is made fresh each day and proofed overnight. Menu highlights include The House (strawberries, cookie butter, Nutella and whipped cream) and The Elvis (bananas, peanut butter, honey and bacon crumbles).

Visitors can also customize their waffle with a number of toppings. “It’s like the Chipotle of waffles,” Turay said.

Press Waffle Co. can be found in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri and Colorado. The Atlanta location is the first for Turay and Keister, and they hope to expand, bringing more locations of the concept to Georgia.

“It really does operate like a family business, not a big machine,” Turay said of the franchise. “Working with them is so hands-on, so helpful.”

Turay said they’re excited to be selected as one of the vendors at Halidom Eatery, especially because the area is personal for her, having lived in the East Atlanta area for years before moving to Covington.

“Seeing the transformation and having something where you can feel planted was full circle for me,” she said.

Halidom Eatery is slated to open this spring. In addition to 11 food stalls, it will include a 30-seat upscale bar, an event area and an outdoor green space. There will be indoor seating for 320 guests and outdoor seating for 123 guests.

Located at the IST Management headquarters’ base, the eatery is the inaugural phase of a mixed-use domain, Halidom, which will also have residential and retail space.

Other concepts recently announced for the food hall include Mad Dads Philly’sLocale Island Eats, Mango Indian Grill and a yet-to-be-named Mexican street food concept from the owners of Zocalo.
