Morty’s will offer counter-service with a full menu from appetizers to entrees to sides, and a full bar including 24 beer and cocktail taps. Additionally, a selection of grab-and-go items will be available.
“Now that The Village Dunwoody has been open one year, our team has the solid, on-the-ground experience and has come to learn what the Dunwoody guest craves,” David Abes, Founder of DASH, said in the release. “We needed a quick service spot that yields high-quality food and is family-friendly. We named the restaurant after my grandfather who absolutely loved to dine out! Therefore, this spot is endearing as the menu will feature some family recipes such as Bubbie’s Corn Pudding and nontraditional sides. Dessert includes our signature and “almost famous” Chocolate Babka Bread Pudding! Also, we wanted to fill the need for a one-stop-shop, so we’re offering entire take-home meals pick up, heat, and serve.”
The menu will feature one daily special per day such as a Piled High Pastrami Sandwich (house-made) on Thursdays, BBQ Lasagna on Wednesdays, and Saturday Smoked Bone-In Beef Short Rib. The menu includes generous “between-the-slices” sandwiches such as Burnt Ends Meatloaf, served with a choice of side and a pickle. Smoked meats include; pulled pork, smoked chicken wings, Hot Guts Texas-style sausage, smoked turkey, brisket, and St. Louis-style ribs. For groups of two to six, there is Morty’s Pitmaster Platter, which includes sliced brisket, pulled pork, turkey breast, cowboy beans, slaw, and pickles.
There will also be a “Dunwoody Wall of Fame” that will be featured in the bar area. The DASH group is looking for anyone who would like to donate their Dunwoody memorabilia from 1970 to 1990 to include on the wall. To date, Abes has received everything from letter sweaters to photographs and school pennants. “The Village Dunwoody wants to put their pride on the wall and share as many Funwoody memories with their guests as possible,” according to the release.
The Village Dunwoody is an open-air courtyard with a giant outdoor screen and elevated stage. Restaurants currently include; Bar{n}, the Funwoody Food Truck with a menu that changes weekly, and soon-to-open Message In A Bottle.
