Barcito Sushi will be located at 1560 Indian Trail Lilburn Road NW.

Chrystie Calderon and sushi chef Geovanny Perez make up the team behind Barcito Sushi. Perez has been building a local following as a sushi chef for about 20 years, working at several sushi restaurants in the Atlanta area, including Happy Sumo, before branching into his own space.

Now they’re expanding, with the first brick-and-mortar space under the Barcito Sushi name.

Their Spanish backgrounds influence some of the dishes, like with plantain ceviche. Expect sushi classics like California rolls, spicy tuna rolls and shrimp tempura, as well as sashimi. The restaurant will also offer omakase, an individualized Japanese dining experience in which a customer interacts directly with the chef, who creates individualized dishes for the diner.

“Your entire experience is different from anyone else in the restaurant,” Calderon told What Now Atlanta.

Calderon said they’re excited to bring a new sushi restaurant to Gwinnett County, which doesn’t have many. Barcito Sushi will be located in a shopping center across from Greater Atlanta Christian School, which they’re hoping will be good for business.

“We’re really looking to expand our customer base,” she said.

Barcito Sushi is expected to open at the end of March. Follow @barcitosushi on Instagram to stay in the loop.
