BŌM will be joining Church Street this summer. The Korean restaurant is a new concept from Brian So and Daniel Crawford, also the team behind Spring, which opened in Marietta in 2016.

Originally from Kennesaw, So is a two-time James Beard Foundation Award nominee for Rising Star Chef of the Year, as well as a semifinalist in the Best Chef: Southeast award category.

“My motivation for creating BŌM is to bring something to the Marietta Square that I just don’t see happening anytime soon if I’m not the one to do it,” So said in a news release. “Our menu will consist of truly authentic Korean dishes, the type of food that begs for an ice-cold Korean beer or Soju, which we will have plenty of. I’m most excited to have the opportunity to do something completely different from what I have been doing at Spring, which is more about the challenge of cooking and technique. BŌM will be about showcasing what I love to eat and the pure enjoyment of cooking and serving food.”

The restaurant will be 1,684 square feet and include a storefront window and outdoor patio. Soups, hot pots and more will be delivered on rolling dining carts while Korean music videos and films play on TV screens, creating a vibe that’s “energetic, welcoming, and reminiscent of the comfort the food provides Chef So,” according to the news release.

The Church Street project by Bridger Properties includes more than 17,000 square feet of restaurants and businesses off of Marietta Square. In addition to the restaurants and retailers, an existing parking lot will be transformed into a park to create an outdoor greenspace.

“We’re beyond thrilled to announce our first new tenant on Church Street is BŌM, a casual Korean restaurant from none other than Spring’s Brian So,” Bridger Properties principal and co-founder Merritt Lancaster said in the news release. “Brian is a quiet monster in the culinary scene of the Southeast, and this concept is sure to bring an exciting new option to Marietta. As he has done with Spring, Brian will set the bar for the level of authenticity and quality you can expect on Church Street.”
