Atlanta staple Woody’s CheeseSteaks is expected to open at the project by the end of the year.
The eatery serving cheesesteaks, milkshakes and more began in 1975. Steven Renner took over operations in 2010 and added a partner, Matt Porcelli, in 2016.
“We have been looking to expand outside of the Atlanta market for years, and when the opportunity presented to open a location at the iconic Marietta Square, we couldn’t resist!” they shared in a news release.
At the 1,336-square-foot Church Street restaurant, guests can expect a similar menu and look as the other Woody’s locations in Buckhead, Midtown and East Atlanta.
Church Street is a redevelopment project by Bridger Properties featuring more than 17,000 square feet of restaurants and businesses along Church Street off Marietta Square.
Brewery tasting room and fermentarium Cøntrast Artisan Ales and 7 Tequilas Mexican Restaurant are also coming to the development.
“We’re incredibly excited to announce three new additions – all local operators – to our Church Street lineup,” Bridger Properties principal and co-founder Merritt Lancaster said in the announcement. “We believe each concept will contribute to the overall experience on Church Street and look forward to their openings later this year.”
A new Korean restaurant from the team behind Spring in Marietta was announced as the first restaurant tenant for Church Street back in January.

I’ve been scarfing those things down since the early 80’s, but always thought a side of thick, crispy fries would make a great accompaniment!
