Jones is no stranger to Hapeville. The Chicago native and now 13-year Atlanta transplant operates one of four Smoothie King locations in the space directly adjacent to where Grub Fresh Bowls and Wraps is opening.

“I created Grub because I would spend hours looking for something quick and healthy to eat,” Jones said in a press release over the weekend. “The lack of options made it challenging to maintain a healthy lifestyle while working such a busy schedule. After years of frustration, I decided to recruit a classically-trained chef to help me take my passionate idea and create a solution that left me feeling satisfied and recharged.”

Jones collaborated with Chef Kelley Hicks who has nearly two decades of industry experience to develop the menu. The two created non-traditional bowl and wrap options which change seasonally and all food is made in-house, from scratch with fresh ingredients. Guests can choose jasmine rice, brown rice and/or a flatbread wrap to accompany any menu item like the Jerk Chicken Bowl (sautéed peppers and onions, pineapple salsa, mango jerk sauce, shaved lettuce) and the Sweet and Spicy Salmon Bowl (edamame, shredded cabbage, green onions, sesame seeds, sweet chili, hericot vert).

Any item can be made vegetarian and Hicks in a few months with launch vegan options. “In this way, Grub accommodates all customer dietary needs easily with its scratch-made, healthy menu,” a spokesperson said.

Jones plans to perfect the Grub business model in Hapeville before expanding to a total of five Grub locations throughout metro Atlanta over the next five years.

Currently, Grub offers only outdoor seating and grab and go options, no drive-thru. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
