“We just closed on a new property at the corner of Northside Drive and Marietta Street at the entrance to the Westside,” Champion told What Now Atlanta in an email Tuesday. “No idea when we’ll be open.”

Champion denied rumors of a West Midtown location after reports circulated in early September.

“You know how things like this go! I have not spoken to anyone except a few employees and friends about the possibility of a new location,” Champion told WNA earlier this month.

“Just the facts: We do not have a location although we are looking in the Marietta St. and Northside Dr. area.”

Champion has yet to confirm the exact address for the new Sausage Stand.

  1. I love Delia’s! But, why does this blog label EVERYthing west of the connector as “West Midtown”? In the words of Regina George, “Stop trying to make [West Midtown] happen. It’s not going to happen.”

    That area might be west OF Midtown. But, Northside/Marietta isn’t even “mid”. The neighborhoods in the area being considered include English Avenue, Marietta St. Artery, or even Bankhead.

  2. Considered by whom? I guess real estate values increase by giving this huge area of multiple neighborhoods a new gentrified label. From now on, I live in South Druid Hills. 🙂

  3. Well-considering Bankhead is across the railroad tracks, English Avenue is across the tracks, and the Marietta St Artery is only a smaller portion of the larger area being discussed t I think it’s best to assume that marketing this area as West Midtown is justified.

    “The borders of West Midtown are not defined officially but rather by defaulting to the borders of neighboring areas or landmarks. Thus, West Midtown is bounded on the north by Buckhead at Collier Road and I-75, on the east by Midtown at Northside Drive and Tech Parkway, on the south by Bankhead and English Avenue at North Avenue, Northside Drive, and Hollowell Parkway, and on the west by the railroad at Marietta Street.” [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Midtown}

    An even more gentrified label would be the “Design District” that’s being pushed by real estate and other marketing campaigns given the large amounts of design-based businesses in the area as well.

    But as far as the name West Midtown goes it’s going to become more and more accepted and understood to encompass the very areas around where Northside Dr and Marietta St cross.

    Also wouldn’t “South Druid Hills” be encompassing Candler Park, Inman Park, Little Five Points, Edgewood, Reynoldstown, or Cabbagetown- all of which have already created stronger community identities over the past few decades?
