It’s unclear when the cafe will open, however, the filing calls for new interior walls in the space, as well as construction of the drive-thru itself.
A representative of Starbucks did not immediately return a request for comment.
This new outpost comes roughly a month after another permit was filed for a 1,950-square-foot storefront that’s taking over the former Two Dogs Bottle Shoppe located at 2414 Marietta Blvd NW, which is slated to open Sep 1.
On that location, a spokesperson for the company told What Now Atlanta, “Starbucks is always looking for great locations to better meet the needs of our customers, and we are happy to confirm that we will be opening a new drive-thru location at 2414 Marietta Blvd., Atlanta, GA on Sep 1, 2023.”
As of last year, Georgia laid claim to 326 Starbucks locations, making it the coffee chain’s eighth most populated state.
Meanwhile, three-time CEO Howard Schultz stepped down from his position earlier this month, but not before introducing a new addition to the menu; the Oleato, which combines various drinks such as a caffé latte, iced espresso, and cold brew with a shot of Partanna extra virgin olive oil.
In a statement announcing the drink, which will initially be rolled out in Italy and Southern California, Schultz said, “I was absolutely stunned at the unique flavor and texture created when the Partanna extra virgin olive oil was infused into Starbucks coffee. In both hot and cold coffee beverages, what it produced was an unexpected, velvety, buttery flavor that enhanced the coffee and lingers beautifully on the palate.”
