Purple Square Cafe, the multi-concept franchise group that last year signed a 15-unit deal with Canadian brand Tim Horton’s, plans to open one of its first area restaurants at 6510 Tara Blvd in Jonesboro by year’s end, according to Purple Square Cafe owner, Abid Khutliwala.

At the time of Khutliwala’s signing with Tim Hortons, the franchisee said, “I’ve been familiar with Tim Hortons ever since visiting Toronto years ago, and I really love the coffee. I think it will be the best coffee around.”
He went on to add, “I’m very excited to introduce a new brand to Atlanta; one that locals will be happy to build into their routines.”
Khutliwala is also in the process of constructing a Tim Hortons in Columbus – which could be Georgia’s first – at 6741 Veterans Pkwy.
Meanwhile, a separate franchisee is opening a location at an undisclosed address in downtown Atlanta in “just a couple of months,” according to a recent report from the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
All of these locations, including the 15 that will be operated by Khutliwala, are part of Tim Hortons’ larger plans to open 30 restaurants across Georgia by 2027.
Since opening its first location in Hamilton, Canada nearly six decades ago, Tim Hortons has become a veritable juggernaut on the quick-service scene, opening some 5,400 locations in 15 countries as of last summer.
While the restaurant does serve sandwiches, wraps, and chicken strips, it is perhaps best known for breakfast offerings such as the Bagel B.E.L.T, its signature donut holes known as Timbits, and various coffee drinks.
