News of the Mexican eatery coming to the mixed-use property arrives on the heels of plans for vegan-eatery Envegan in Atlantic Station.

The two first-to-market restaurants are the latest to join the development as part of Hines’ mission to expand the development’s restaurant, retail, and experiential offerings, after acquiring it from North American Properties.

“Since the start of Atlantic Station’s transformation, it has been our goal to bring a more diverse restaurant experience to the property,” Nick Garzia, director of leasing at Hines, said in a prepared statement.

“With the announcement of these two new concepts, we continue to exceed that goal.”

Owned by Diego Velasquez, the creator of Tacos & Tequila, Azotea Cantina will offer a “focused menu” with authentic Mexican cuisine using ingredients and produce from local providers and farmers, as well as a beer menu featuring local favorites from Georgia breweries.

The nearly 4,000-square-foot restaurant will occupy one of the three new restaurant spaces located in the renovated “Atlantic Green” in the heart of the property and will feature a rooftop patio that will provide additional seating, special programming, and more for guests dining with Azotea Cantina.

“We selected Atlantic Station as our first venture for Azotea Cantina because it checked all the boxes we were looking for as far as experience and location,” Velasquez said.

“We’re thrilled to be launching our new concept at Atlantic Station and to bring authentic Mexican dishes to the heart of Atlanta!”

The announcement of Azotea Cantina and Envegan comes amid Atlantic Station opening a variety of restaurants including NaanStop, Sri Thai Kitchen & Sushi Bar, Pho 24 Noodle Bar, Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ, and Poké Bar, while the mixed-use development’s newest experiential offering, Bowlero, is slated to open later this year.

HobNob is also planned for the center.
