100 percent plant-based eatery PLANTA has filed paperwork with the Georgia Secretary of State for what appears to be a location slated to open in Asana Partners’ Krog District development. Tomorrow’s News Today first spotted the filing and has intel on a location potentially headed to Buckhead, too.

“PLANTA KROG LLC” was registered with the state with an effective date of January 21, 2022, according to the official filing. Steven Salm, president and CEO at PLANTA parent company Chase Hospitality Group, is listed on the filing as the LLC’s Manager.

Paul Weinstein, director of operations for PLANTA, on Friday would not comment on the plans when reached via telephone by What Now Atlanta, saying “there’s nothing to share at this time.” Reps for Asana Partners on Friday were not immediately available to comment.

PLANTA has locations in Florida, New York, Maryland, and Canada, with locations planned for Los Angeles and Chicago. PLANTA’s mission is “to make an impact by celebrating the power of plants,” according to the restaurant’s website. “We work tirelessly to continuously expand our influence, championing plant-based living as a way to better our health, our communities, and our planet.”

Salm founded PLANTA in 2016 “to expand the accessibility and acceptability of plant-based dining; dining as it should be — an unguilty pleasure.” The restaurant is 100 percent plant-based and “reimagines, reinvents, and revitalizes, providing flavorful proof that the power of plants can change the world.”

PLANTA has two sister concepts, PLANTA Queen and PLANTA Cocina. It’s unclear which concept is coming to Atlanta, but Tomorrow’s News Today reports the restaurant will replace Watchman’s in Krog Street Market, a 3,000 square-foot space. Watchman’s closed in February 2022.

  1. Should anyone be surprised when a restaurant charges $17 for a burger and $16 for a catfish sandwich doesn’t make it?
