Ruiz this week filed plans with the City of Atlanta for the rolled ice cream and dessert shop and in April announced plans on Instagram for Sugar Baby Creamery.

“Let’s now add brick-and-mortar to my resume,” Ruiz wrote on the social media platform. “I prayed so hard for this. God’s favor in my life is truly unmatched in ALL realms! Every year I elevate as a businesswoman but this time I took a step completely out of my comfort zone and switched gears…today I got the keys for my first location of my rolled ice creamery and dessert cafe.”

Sugar Baby Creamery will be located above Azule Restaurant and Lounge and adjacent to Pasha Restaurant and Bar, according to Ruiz. It will serve rolled ice cream and carnival desserts — think “massive” funnel cakes, churros, fried Oreos, cotton candy burritos, and milkshakes. The menu is “insane,” Ruiz said.

While an exact timeline was not provided, Ruiz said the opening is slated for 2022. According to the permit filing, the buildout of the 1,500 square-foot space is expected to cost an estimated $30,000.
