“You’re looking at Atlanta’s newest business owner,” Kitchens wrote on Instagram. “Highland Dreamery is the culmination of so many of my dreams.”

Highland Dreamery specializes in made-to-order ice cream, bubble tea, boba, coffee, and other desserts (with some vegan options), and is situated along the Atlanta BeltLine, at 985 Monroe Dr NE Suite B, directly across the street of the City’s largest green space.

“I recently came across a journal entry of mine from July 2021, which ended with: ‘How incredible would it be to own an ice cream shop? Talk about a dream life,'” Kitchens said. “It’s hard to believe that less than a year later, the universe conspired to make that a reality.”

Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group represented the sellers, Zak Khimji and Zein Rahemtulla of Where’s The Scoop, for a second time having recently sold the company’s Alpharetta location. Khimji did not respond to multiple requests for comment and details of the sale were not disclosed.

“This is the worst time for buyers or anybody looking for space in 30 years, ” Josovitz, who’s selling restaurants “at a record clip,” told What Now Atlanta in an email. “Almost zero space available. 2021 was a record year and 2022 is even better, with no letting up.”

With the second generation space, Kitchens was able to quickly flip open Highland Dreamery which is operating Tuesday through Thursday, and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. The ice creamery is closed on Mondays.

“Highland Dreamery is fully open as we explore our new vision and craft a different, but still delicious, experience,” Kitchens told What Now Atlanta. “While the physical space itself won’t be changing much, we will be making some improvements to better match our new intention. We are currently committed to the success of our flagship Monroe location, but who knows what the future may hold?”
