Ten is replacing the now shuttered Five Napkin Burger at the corner of Piedmont Avenue and 10th Street.

“We’re very excited to announce that Ten Atlanta will open tonight after sorting out some issues with permitting and renovations,” a spokesman told What Now Atlanta in an email Saturday.

The space has been retrofitted with “an advanced video and sound system, the first of its kind in North America,” as well as upgrades to the restaurant’s restrooms to tailor to Ten’s “discerning gay clientele,” according to the release.

Chef Jennifer DePanicis, who’s previous experience includes working in the kitchens at Chops and 103 West prior, will helm the kitchen at Ten.

The non-smoking restaurant and bar will feature an all-American menu, the release notes. Dinner will be served seven days a week, brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, with the bar open until 3 a.m. on Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday.

After dinner service daily at 10 p.m., the kitchen closes and the space is transitioned into its bar layout.

The restaurant is owned and operated by James Nelson, former owner of Gravity Fitness.

“The space has been retrofitted with “…upgrades to the restaurant’s restrooms to tailor to Ten’s “discerning gay clientele,” according to the release.”

What does that mean? A vending machine that dispenses knee pads?

Really eman?? We don’t need a vending machine. Us gays have managed the gay bar scene without the use of a vending machine just fine. Bars need more than 2 urinals so renovations were needed. I’m excited to see the space open and come to life.

Did the press release really say they were upgrading the bathrooms because of the “discerning gay clientele”?

If so, that has to be the most stupid thing I have ever read. I’m gay. Trust me. I use the bathroom just like everyone else.

If it is true, it represents yet another swing and miss by this start-up. While I never wish ill-will on any new business, this one has been plagued with one self-induced black-eye after another.

I don’t even understand… Aside from other obvious issues with the chosen name, I doubt their marketing folks have considered how confusing this place will be for potential customers. How many of us use our phone or Google to get info (like a phone number or dining hours) from restaurants before going?

Me!

I doubt I’m the only one.

Type “ten restaurant”, “new 10 gay bar”, or any variation into Google and see what you get. It just makes me shake my head…

Has it officially opened? We heard there was issues with the alcohol license.

I love this bar at night. The DJ is good, the staff are good. The acoustics sounds amazing, there is no smoking so you can actually see and smell in this place. The TVs need to show the music videos, not the silly acid designs. The drinks are not that pricey. The name is confusing with 10th & Piedmont next door. And although 10th & Piedmont were there first, they are also just as annoying for naming themselves a famous street corner. Now no one knows if you are talking about the bar or the street corner, and then no… Read more »

My wife and decided to have dinner at five napkins after work, and were pleasantly surprised to find a new restaurant. TEN, had no idea, but the atmosphere was great, service was excellent, food was like a home cooked meal! Great experience! My wife and I talked about it all the way home ( I mostly listened) love this place and look forward to taking my better half dancing there after 10!
