Well, Almost.

Saigon Café, a Vietnamese restaurant franchise, is taking the Mama Fu’s space on Peachtree Road in Buckhead.

Located at 1935 Peachtree Road, the Mama Fu’s franchise was launched in this space early 2003 with plans for several locations (rumored to be hundreds) within a five-year period nationwide. This Mama Fu’s was just one of many that failed in the Atlanta Market.

Slated to open in August, Saigon Café posts this on their website in the news section: “Look for our new location in Buckhead to open in August.” Don’t hold your breath, we have calendars too.

Signs are still posted on the entrance and windows of the space indicating that interested parties should contact Steve Josovitz with The Shumacher Group. However, progress does seem evident as a building permit was filed with the city a few weeks ago to begin altering the space.

Saigon Café specializes in Pho, a traditional Vietnamese noodle soup and also serves a variety of Thai dishes.

  1. Cool news — I’ve been to and enjoyed Saigon Basil on Piedmont Rd, but I’ve not yet been to one of their Saigon Cafe restaurants. Anything would be an improvement over Mama Fu’s cuisine.

  2. The Saigon Cafe is even better than Saigon Basil because it has table service and more on the menu. This will be a great replacement for the corporate zombie Mama Fu’s.

  3. I drove by yesterday, and the signs said they were open! I’m so excited..I love the Saigon Cafe off of Clairmont/N.Decatur.
