And The Hawks? While the Atlanta NBA team isn’t getting a brand new facility, The Hawks will soon have an updated home of its own.

Plans to invest $192.5 million in overhauling Philips Arena Downtown are moving forward.

A building permit application for Phase 1 of the three-phase renovation Friday was submitted to City of Atlanta.

The project was first announced late-2016.

“The Philips Arena Renovation will be a complex, fast tracked, multi-phased project that will most noticeably alter the look of the luxury boxes stacked on the west side of the arena, improve basketball sightlines on elevated levels, and connect concourses throughout the 17-year-old facility,” according to a microsite dedicated to the project.

“There will be new amenities including a variety of different-size suites, new seating, upgraded restrooms and a state-of-the-art video system.”

Construction is slated to commence summer 2017 and is expected to be completed by start of the 2018-19 NBA season. The construction is divided into three phases:

Phase 1: June 2017 through October 2017
Phase 2: November 2017 through May 2018
Phase 3: June 2018 through November 2018

The Hawks will continue to play at the arena during the overhaul, with much of the work being done over the next two off seasons.
