It will also add new locations in Alpharetta, Roswell and its fourth in Cumming. There are many other locations currently in the works for the North Atlanta community, he adds.

“We’re excited to open a store closer to everybody,” Nichelson tells What Now Atlanta.

The Human Bean opened its first humble drive-thru stand in Ashland, Oregon in 1998, eventually franchising in 2002. This year the coffee company expects over 300 locations to open or develop, according to its website.

Nichelson is a coffee aficionado who felt the Atlanta area needed an alternative drive-thru to companies like Starbucks. He noted how there used to only be a few options in his area, which felt limiting.

“I felt like there was an opening in the market for a good quality, yet fast-service option,” he says. “We were pretty confident based on the demographics. It’s been very well received.”

The drive-thru chain is known for its specialty drinks, with popular seasonal specials like The Mexi, a dark cocoa with bold spices, and The Muddy, a creamy chocolate espresso drink, as well as its own peppermint and pumpkin drinks. It also has house specials like an Irish Cream Breve and Salted Caramel Latte, as well as classics like iced tea and matcha. All are available hot, iced or blended.
