A building permit application was filed for a Hansel and Gretel Bakery Cafe at 130 Luckie Street. The space is 4,300 square feet and located in the Fairlie-Poplar Historical District.

It looks like the bakery could be one of the retail tenants at The Legacy at Centennial student housing complex, which is also located at the address. The area is near several signature Atlanta attractions, including Centennial Olympic Park and the SkyView Atlanta ferris wheel.

The Asian-style bakery that has been around since 2007 serves sweet and savory breads and pastries; specialty coffee, teas and lemonades; and custom-order cakes. There are existing stores in Suwanee, Duluth and Johns Creek.

Another Hansel and Gretel Bakery Cafe is underway for Suwanee, What Now Atlanta reported recently. The owner said they were also looking into opening additional bakery locations in downtown Duluth and the Canton area, as well as possibly expanding out of state.
