Unsukay Concepts, the parent company of Muss & Turner’s, Eleanor’s, Local Three, and Common Quarter, late-Thursday announced plans for a second Muss & Turner’s location to open in East Cobb early spring 2017.

Muss & Turner’s new venture will take the place of the restaurant group’s current East Cobb eatery, Common Quarter, at 1205 Johnson Ferry Road.

Common Quarter’s last day of service will be February 4 to begin overhaul renovations which are projected to take roughly one month.

“While Common Quarter is beloved by many, at the end of the day, the restaurant was ultimately the vision and DNA of ex-partner Chris Talley’s,” Ryan Turner, Muss & Turner’s co-founder and Unsukay partner said in the release.

“Though Common Quarter was a fantastic restaurant, we also saw an exciting opportunity for us to grow Muss & Turner’s and bring the East Cobb community a unique concept unlike anything in their area – a chef-driven, flex-casual restaurant.”

Muss & Turner’s East Cobb plans to operate on the same model as its counterpart offering counter service during the day and table service at night. Full table service will be available day and night in an enclosed bar area to accommodate a more adult-centric atmosphere.

“Muss & Turner’s is where our partnership was born and our company began,” Todd Mussman, Muss & Turner’s co-founder and Unsukay partner said in the release.

“We’ve always been committed to providing accessible, high-quality food made with love and served with gracious hospitality. We are very excited to share this philosophy with the East Cobb community.”

Unsukay partners have extended an offer to all Common Quarter employees to remain on staff with Muss & Turner’s East Cobb and including a compensation package to alleviate any financial strain throughout the transition.

Mussman intends to play a very active role in the East Cobb kitchen. Turner will remain active in the beverage program, and Smyrna General Manager Curt Hummel will oversee both locations leading East Cobb staff along with a handful of tenured Smyrna staff to assist with the opening.

With the impending change in concept, Common Quarter Executive Chef, Jeffrey Gardner announced plans to depart the group to spend more time with family and travel internationally.

“Working with Chris Hall, Todd Mussman and Ryan Turner has been a fantastic experience and I’m really proud of what we built together at Common Quarter,” Gardner said.

“Hopefully we’ve shown Atlanta that there is a vibrant dining scene outside of the perimeter, which will continue to grow with the new Muss & Turner’s.”
