Construction plans indicate that the restaurant will be built at 1220 Jonesboro Road in McDonough. Construction is expected to begin Oct. 2, 2023, with an anticipated completion date in February. Building documents indicate plans for a patio and drive-thru.

City Barbeque is a Dublin, Ohio-based chain that operates in eight states. With three on-site smokers at each location, the restaurant serves barbeque dishes like beef brisket, pulled pork, smoked sausage and ribs.

City Barbeque currently has locations in Johns Creek, Decatur and Sandy Springs, with a Snellville location set to open at the end of August and a Woodstock location set to open in late September. The restaurants are company-owned.

Construction bids for the McDonough location are being accepted through Aug. 29, 2023.
