The 4,000-square-foot restaurant is located at The Works, an 80-acre adaptive reuse development on Atlanta’s Upper Westside.

Chicheria is the second restaurant from Juan Sebastian Calle and Adam Berlin, founders of popular Spanish tapas restaurant Buena Vida Tapas & Sol and TQM Hospitality. The duo enlisted Bravo TV’s “Top Chef” alum Whitney Otawka to consult on the restaurant’s menu in collaboration with Otawka’s long-time friend and sous chef Alejandro Tamez, who will take the helm as the Executive Chef at Chicheria.

“The Chicheria menu emphasizes the vibrancy of fresh vegetables and exceptional ingredients,” Otawka said in a press release. “The blue corn tortillas, in particular, bridge ancient culinary customs with our fresh approach. I’m excited for everyone to experience the menu at Chicheria.”

The restaurant’s handmade organic blue corn tortillas are made fresh in-house daily. The menu features eight varieties of tacos, as well as fajitas, served with a medley of roasted bell peppers and blistered shishito peppers, charred red onion petals, and the signature blue corn tortillas.

“Chicheria is unlike any other Mexican restaurant in the market,” Calle said in the press release. “It offers an approachable dining experience with health-conscious options and what I can confidently say is the best Baja fish taco in the city.”

The beverage menu includes craft margaritas, Baja-coast-inspired craft cocktails, and beer options both Mexican and local to Atlanta. Berlin has curated a select list of wines by the glass. The menu also offers chicha morada, a traditional Peruvian beverage made from purple corn.

The interior of the restaurant was designed by Square Feet Studio and features wood screen walls, terracotta tiles and arched rattan elements. There is also an outdoor dining patio and a to-go window.

Chicheria will be open daily for lunch and dinner.
