Changes Are Happening At This Fellini’s Location

Restaurant to join the commotion of activity at the former Garden Hills shopping center property.

Restaurant slated for redevelopment.

Fellini’s and La Fonda, located at 2809 Peachtree Road, have been constants on the block in the past few years. But now, the restaurants are slated to change along with their surroundings.

Ron Stang, Principal at Stevens and Wilkinson – the firm behind Georgia State University’s new College of Law building – recently submitted rezoning plans to the city to rezone the property which La Fonda and Fellini’s currently stand on from C-1 to MRC-2.

Stang told What Now Atlanta (WNA) Tuesday that the application “is for a new Fellini’s restaurant with under building parking.”

Even though the application is for rezoning to mixed residential commercial use, Stang says the application is only pertinent to a new Fellini’s and not any new residences.

A representative with the restaurant told WNA that the company is looking at “several options” of what to do with the property, and that the project was indeed prompted by the forthcoming construction around the site. The representative said there are no other solid plans to share at the moment.

Fellini’s owns the property that both restaurants stand on.

The Garden Hills shopping center site has been through a lot in recent years. From experiencing significant fire damage in 2013 which led to the center’s demolition, to a drawn-out approval process for the impending redevelopment by Brand Properties, the block has been through a roller coaster of activity.

When Brand Properties’ impending renovation of the rest of the block was approved by the Garden Hills Civic Association board last year, Clay Harper, an owner of Fellini’s, told Buckhead View said he “would have been happy to negotiate a way for the two restaurants to be incorporated into the new design, but Brand Properties was not interested in discussing that.”

  1. I like the way Fellinis and La Fonda look….I don’t want to the whole city to look too new- like the suburbs. Living in Midtown there is too much new . The term “mixed use” is right up there with “farm to table”

  2. Makes me sick. Can’t we keep anything small in our neighborhood?? Must everything be brand new and 7 stories tall? What about the sun or our nice walkable street or the traffic or the nice sense of community we have when we all bring our families to Fellini’s and see familiar faces? Is that too old fashioned of a way of life? Yes, very unhappy.
