At the corner of Hosea Williams Drive and 2nd Avenue NE, the Atlanta-based chain will join Poor Hendrix, serving cocktails and small plates, the East Lake location of Hippin’ Hops Brewery and Distillery, and Salaryman, a Japanese/Korean restaurant and pub.

If the building looks familiar to fans of the Fellini’s Pizza restaurant group, La Fonda Latina’s parent company, that’s because founders Clay Harper and Mike Nelson originally purchased the property in 2015. The building was constructed to house the third location Greater Good BBQ, which was also part of the Fellini’s organization. All Greater Good BBQs are now closed.

“We have an interest in three buildings on that corner, where Poor Hendrix and Perc are located,” Harper told What Now Atlanta. “When we first bought the building, we decided to open Greater Good BBQ instead of Fellini’s or Fonda Latina because we wouldn’t have operational responsibility. Now we’re excited to open La Fonda Latina the East Lake neighborhood. It’s been a long road, but we’re getting there. And with the closure of our Howell Mill Road location, we’ll have jobs for experienced staff members.”

After Greater Good shut down in 2019, the property was occupied by Lake and Oak Neighborhood BBQ, which closed last year. Their website promises another Metro Atlanta location soon.
