Fitness center plans for beefy renovations

UPDATE (Nov. 14,2011): UPDATE: LA Fitness spending $2 million renovating Buckhead location

LA Fitness is renovating their Buckhead location.

An employee at the fitness center, located at 3232 Peachtree Road NW, confirms the gym will get an updated look and new amenities to match the LA Fitness locations that are scheduled to open this year.

Housed in the Buckhead Place shopping center alongside Marshalls, the fitness center is one of the oldest locations for the brand in Georgia.

New amenities include an indoor pool, basketball court and Kids Club as well as brand new exercise equipment.

However, unlike other locations undergoing renovations, the Buckhead LA Fitness will not get a racquetball court.

Members are invited to continue use of the facility, which will remain open, though are invited to use other locations.

The renovations are currently on hold as other projects for other locations come to a close. Members can expect the renovation process to commence mid year.

  1. way overdue … lots of new health clubs opening in the area. this will give LAF a much NEEDED boost. Really needs an update and new equipment.

  2. They are expanding into the empty space (which may have used to be tower records years ago), these days that space was empty except for sept/oct when a halloween store would show up and then disappear. I am happy because I only use the LA Fitness for swimming and treadmills in the winter, and its the closest one to me, and now they are adding a pool.

  3. Yeah, they told me this 5 years ago when I joined. I’ll believe it when I see it. The place is such a dump but they dont care because membership is through the roof. Hopefully the new Retro Fitness and Urban Active will steal all of their business and light a fire under their feet to get moving. The bathrooms are awful, the equipment is broken, the HVAC feels like its set on 80 degrees, stair steppers are broken, the TVs are about 15 years old. Ridiculous.

  4. Also, I just checked the City of Atlanta website in their building and planning departments and there are NO applications for any type of renovation. This isnt happening anytime soon.

  5. If you haven’t been introduced to The Forum Athletic Club @ Lenox Mall, you are missing out on the best training environment in the city. there is no competition! Yes, it’s more expensive and worth every penny. Btw – their expansion is real and happening right now. Open by Mid-July.

  6. Job is in final stages of bidding for sub-contractors. I am bidding the HVAC which is all new, along with an A/C unit for the swimming pool area for de-humidication purposes.
