The restaurant will open early spring 2012 in the Pencil Factory Flats & Shops, at 349 Decatur Street, according to a press release Tuesday from Perennial Properties, Pencil Factory’s developer.
“American Roadhouse is poised to become the center of the Pencil Factory community,” Aaron Goldman, president of Perennial Properties, said in the release. “This is an ideal addition to a perfect tenant mix at the Pencil Factory.”
American Roadhouse will join Caramba Cafe, Melange Salon, Intown Market, Village Theatre and Hill Street Tavern at Pencil Factory Flats & Shops, located at the historic intersection of Hill Street and Decatur Street.
American Roadhouse’s original location, at 842 North Highland Avenue, has been a mainstay in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood for 23 years.
“[Pencil Factory Flats & Shops] provides the perfect mix of communities (Inman Park, Candler Park, Edgewood, Downtown), offering a very cool edgy vibe,” Ed Udoff, the founder and proprietor of American Roadhouse, said in the release. “We are thrilled to open in this unique cross section of Atlanta.”

So glad to see this happening. I love that Pencil Factory is filling up. If we could just get the same interest and revitalization going on Georgia Ave in Summerhill. I wish someone would make a jump. We need it.
FYI, I wouldn’t call this area “downtown”.
Though it is difficult to envision as a part of downtown due to the massive freeway carving its way through the in-town neighborhoods it is officially (as defined by the city) downtown. Downtown is officially bounded by North Ave, Northside Drive, Memorial Drive, and Boulevard.
@ Deb… I agree. SMH
Take it easy on him… it’s like a block or two from what most people call “Downtown”…. its not like he’s referring to places west of Georgia Tech as “midtown” or the area along I-85 and Clermont as “buckhead”.
They need to do something about their dirty and dated location in the Highlands while they’re at it.
eeeewwwww….grossssss.
@CJ……I wasn’t aware there was an AR in Highlands, NC. 😉
