Frozen yogurt franchise leases space at Technology Square.

Yogli Mogli Frozen Yogurt is opening in Midtown at Technology Square.

And although Midtown is finally getting a more centralized frozen yogurt shop (something What Now Atlanta readers have been harping for), its location doesn’t seem ideal for most residents; that is, unless, you’re a yellow jacket.

Yogli Mogli will open on the Georgia Institute of Technology campus in the Centergy Building, according to a Facebook post Monday.

“It’s official,” Yogli Mogli announced to their Facebook community Monday. “Yogli Mogli is coming to Georgia Tech.”

What Now Atlanta spoke to company spokeswoman Jamie Annarino Thursday but was not able to confirm the yogurt shop’s exact location.

On a trip to the tech campus Wednesday, What Now Atlanta found the only available space is a now shuttered business center adjacent to Moe’s Southwest Grill and across the courtyard from Richard Blais’ new spot.

Employees at Moe’s told What Now Atlanta the business center next door was rumored to be replaced by both a yogurt shop and a Subway restaurant.

Yogli Mogli is also opening a Buckhead location within the same time line.

  1. This will probably do well by the school and I like what Tech did with Technology Square… but I still don’t understand why a frozen yogurt shop hasn’t opened in 12th and Midtown… or in Metropolis, or Viewpoint, or Spire… any one of those locations seem perfect.

  2. This yogurt craze is a little out of control. I find yogurt to be a little tasteless to be honest. All these places seem to taste the same. I much prefer ice cream. Everyone’s jumping on the yogurt bandwagon. Anyone want to open an ice cream place? I shouldn’t have to go out of my way to find a quality place like Morelli’s, Kilwins or Sheridan’s custard. And I’m not counting the chains, except Bruster is okay.

I agree. I’m starting to think the rebuilding of Atlanta means yogurt shops, nail salons and preteen clothing shops. Sad really. I would love to see a real deli open in midtown. As much as I love Alons I would like one closer in town. Is anyone listening?

  4. Oh, that fad died years ago. I like zombie movies, not zombie food trends. Will fro-yo please die for good.

  5. Mike…one of the reason’s you don’t see something like this in the buildings you mention is the rent’s are astronomical…and a yogurt shop simply can’t sell enough to pay the high rent. You may or may not recall there was an ice cream shop of sorts in Spire once, and it went out of biz.

Sad that the retailer’s can’t get their head around the concept that full space would probably drive up the demand and then maybe they could offer the space at more money. But now, it sits empty because a potential retail client takes one look and has to think twice about opening based on the traffic count (people walking on the street) and if they can make it. But if there were more businesses to window shop, or actually shop at, there would be more people on the sidewalks.

You know, what comes first? The chicken or the egg.

  6. @Thom, you obviously didn’t visit the “ice cream” shop in Spire. First, it wasn’t ice cream. Second, whatever it was, it was terrible.

  7. @Thumb – It was Tasti-D-Lite. And really, why does everyone have to be such an a$$ when they respond to someone’s post. It’s amazing what blogs have done to people being civil…

  8. I agree with @Thumb. Tasti-D-Lite was horrible…

On the rumor front: I keep hearing that the folks at Jake’s Ice Cream are looking at re-opening somewhere in Midtown. They occupied the former Kuhlman space in Spire during the Midtown Pop-Ups a while back.
