The 2,581-square-foot boutique will retail its custom frames and offer eye examinations with Karoo’s in-house optometrist, Dr. Lina Barry.

“Karoo combines high-quality eye fashion with the convenience of an on-site Optometrist,” Howie said. “Complete pair of single-vision lenses and frame start at $149.00.  And with our in-store lab, you don’t have to wait for days for your glasses to be made and shipped to you.”

The Karoo team, lead by Mark Meyberg, owner of Reflections Eyecare in Town Brookhaven, and Dr. Gavin Cohen, have designed and manufactured more than 100 styles and counting.

Named for the “semi-desert natural region” in South Africa, Karoo’s eyewear is smartly identified by creatures that can be found there like Eagle, Python, and Zebra (glasses pictured below).

“At Karoo we don’t just check your prescription, we give you a comprehensive eye health and wellness exam.”

Exams include a prescription measurement evaluation and retina picture, as well as a “Karoo Passport” that grants patients access to custom frames.
