Yalda on August 18, 2023, will open at the bottom of the Osprey building in West Midtown, the restaurant this week announced in a press release.
The new location is the second for Yalda which debuted its first outpost last year in Sandy Spring’s Aria Village center.
“Like the Sandy Springs location, the design aspects of the new location pay a form of tribute to the ancient land, in a more modern and unique way,” according to the press release. “Guests can expect an airy space with industrial looking beams and lush greenery throughout. Middle Eastern style fixtures will complete the look and a beautiful bar that opens to the sidewalk will great all that pass by.”
The menu at Yalda in West Midtown focuses on Persian dishes, with some additional favorites from Turkey and Lebanon. A few new menu highlights in West Midtown will include charred octopus with parsnip purée; grouper served with fava bean & dill rice (Tahdig); yogurt and beet dip; and a veal cutlet sandwich.
“I have been so honored by the warm welcome and enthusiasm we have received since opening last December,” Ashkan Famili, Executive Chef and Co-Owner of Yalda, said. “Yalda has been a vision of mine for many years so to have it come to fruition, let alone open a second in a short span of time, is really a dream come true. I am so excited to become part of the amazing West Midtown community in a few weeks!”
Yalda’s name pays homage to its namesake, the longest night of the year celebrated by Persians around the world for centuries. Just like Sandy Springs, Famili’s partner is longtime friend, Farhan Kheraj.
Yalda West Midtown will be open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday to start, at 980 Howell Mill Road, Unit 4. Hours will be Sunday through Thursday from 4 until 10:00 pm and Friday and Saturday from 4 until 11:00 pm. Plans for brunch on both Saturdays and Sundays will follow soon.
