The restaurant, dubbed Stir House, was inspired by a near-death experience that befell co-owner Antonio Brown.

Brown, who’s opening the restaurant with co-owner Phil Thompson and serial entrepreneur Ebony Austin of Nouveau Restaurant & Bar, says the idea for the plant-based menu came after he suffered a near-death experience.

“In 2016, I almost died from a digestive track disorder and realized I had to make changes to my diet,” Brown tells What Now Atlanta. “I also found out I was allergic to gluten and after learning this news, went home and found out that almost everything in my house had gluten.”

As a result, Brown says, this “birthed Stir House,” which will stand as the “first vegan stir fry in the Southeast.”

Taking its cues from the new wave of quick-service, create-your-own restaurants such as Chipotle, Brown says that Stir House will feature a base of either fettuccini rice noodles or brown, parsley, or cauliflower rice, prepared with customizable plant-based proteins, more than 15 vegetable options, and one of five proprietary homemade sauces which “really enhance the flavors of the dish.”

What’s more, hoping to differentiate itself from its competitors and meet the demands of health-conscious customers, everything at Stir House will be made-to-order, effectively eschewing pre-cooked ingredients.

While healthy eating sits at the heart of Stir House’s mission, the team behind the concept still knows how to have a good time, and will be offering select cocktails featuring tequila, rum, or vodka, as well as various dessert options.
