The full-service Aveda hair studio will replace the short-lived Gino’s East pizzeria in the 675 N. Highland apartment mid-rise, according to a permit application submitted to the City of Atlanta this week.

A leasing representative for the Origin Investments development in a telephone conversation with What Now Atlanta (WNA) Thursday confirmed the plans.

Conversion of the two-time restaurant space into Van Michael could begin before the end of the summer, they said.

Before Gino’s East, Rize Artisan Pizza was situated in the prime corner space set to be occupied by Van Michael.

Neither concept stayed open long enough to celebrate a one-year anniversary.

The new Van Michael will be a relocation of its Virginia-Highland salon, at 778 N. Highland Avenue NE, which sits 0.2 miles away from the forthcoming outpost.

“We will be gaining square footage and convenient parking for our clients,” Jay Pollard, director of operations for Van Michael and the project’s point person, in an email Friday told WNA.

“I don’t currently have a definitive timeline as we are still in the design and planning phase but we hope to open soon, possibly this fall.”
