[Update] Hop City's Barleygarden To Open April 13

The concept from Kraig Torres is opening alongside other restaurants and retailers in Avalon's Phase II.

Barleygarden Kitchen & Craft Bar, the newest concept from Hop City Owner Kraig Torres, will open its doors Thursday, April 13 in conjunction with Avalon's Phase II in Alpharetta, according to an announcement Wednesday.

“Expanding to North Fulton is a natural next step for us,” Torres said in the release.

“Barleygarden will have all of the amazing draft choices that we offer at Hop City, with the addition of a chef-driven menu to match. Sidle up to the bar, order at the counter or enjoy our rooftop bar – multiple ways to enjoy our casual entrees, beer-friendly appetizers and 100+ brews.”

The 2,000-square-foot, two-story space will feature a dog-friendly patio, to-go window, interior bar seating with 64 rotating beers on tap, plus an open-air rooftop bar specializing in Belgian, German, English and other European brews.

Similar to Hop City’s Krog Street Market location, curated wines by the glass and specialty cocktails will also be available.

The Spotted Trotter’s Kevin Ouzts developed Barleygarden’s menu with pairings in mind.

"We created a menu that defines what drinking beer at Avalon embodies, pleasing the palate and portability," Ouzts said.

“We want folks to have fun and think of this as an exercise in relaxation with easy, delicious and approachable food accompanied by amazing beer."

Select meats from his boutique charcuterie will be featured in many of the dishes, including a Charcuterie Grilled Cheese, the "Butchers Bun" which includes eight ounces of sliced butchers steak, a "Big Braut Burger," and Chicken Cheddarwurst.

Located in Avalon’s East wing, Barleygarden Kitchen & Craft Bar will be open seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
