TWIGS Farmers Market is planned for 3500 Powder Springs Road SW. Owner Bo Wisdom said they hope construction will begin by February 2024.

“My whole concept is about healthy eating, giving people an opportunity to experience diversity, see different cultural seasonings and cultural foods,” he told What Now Atlanta.

Wisdom is passionate about serving others, especially veterans. He served in Fallujah, Iraq, where he was severely wounded. He’s had more than 18 surgeries and been in two comas.

“God saved my life… God brought me through,” he said. “I overcame that obstacle, and I wanted to serve our community.”

He joined the fire department, where he has worked for about 16 years. He went to school for a business degree and his ministry work. Then, while in Jamaica, he felt a calling. To be lifted out of poverty, people need access to nutritious and nourishing food at an affordable price.

“It made sense to me because I love helping the community and helping people and making a difference in people’s lives, especially in the lives of veterans,” he said. “I started searching and found the property here in Georgia.”

Construction on TWIGS Farmers Market is likely to take between nine and 12 months, with a targeted opening in fall 2024 or early 2025, he said. The store will carry Caribbean, Hispanic, Latino, African, Asian and American foods, featuring two butchers, a seafood department and a wine department.

This will be the first of potentially several locations of TWIGS Farmers Market. Wisdom said they also hope to work with local organizations, such as a nearby nursing home and fellow businesses, to provide healthy food to more people.

A fundraising campaign is active now for donations to the development of the grocery store.
