The project called Thompson Mills Village is planned between the Chateau Elan resort and winery and a Northeast Georgia Medical Center satellite campus, and near The Village at Deaton Creek.

According to the news outlet, the project was first pitched 15 years ago before being stalled during the Great Recession. It could be complete by 2028.

The team behind the project is VDC Development Group.

A site plan indicates that the hotel could have potential for restaurant and retail opportunities on the ground level. Multi-family apartments, townhomes and active-adult housing could all be included in the residential elements. A wellness center is also included in the plans.

Sherry Swindell, of VDC Development Group, couldn’t be reached for comment.

Braselton is northeast of Atlanta.
