Frank Ferrara has been hired as senior project executive to lead in the development and operations of an arena in the mixed-use district, Urbanize Atlanta reports. Ferrara was formerly the chief financial officer and senior associate athletic director for Arizona State University’s Sun Devil Athletics.

“We believe that Frank’s strategic financial insights and deep understanding of sport operations will be instrumental in fulfilling my vision for The Gathering at South Forsyth and the planned crown jewel arena,” Vernon Krause, president and CEO of Krause Auto Group, said in a press release. “We look forward to a long professional relationship as we bring The Gathering to fruition.”

Krause is the owner of the development. The team behind the Gathering at South Forsyth project also includes Lamar Wakefield, whose firm designed The Battery in Atlanta and Avalon in Alpharetta.

The Gathering at South Forsyth is an 80-acre mixed-use entertainment development planned for the intersection of Ronald Reagan Boulevard and Union Hill Road. According to its website, the development is positioned to become the entertainment hub of North Georgia. An arena for concerts and sporting events is part of the plan for the Gathering at South Forsyth, along with restaurants and retail. The development also plans to include a connection to Big Creek Greenway.

According to Urbanize Atlanta, the project is expected to cost around $2 billion.
