Set to begin construction next week, the upcoming Sid’s Pizza could open as early as August 2022 as the former Mellow Mushroom space (most recently Vertigo Cafe) only needs “cosmetic” renovations, according to Kurnett who owns the original Suwanee location with her husband.

“We have been residents of Alpharetta for 33 years and it has always been our dream to open a second store in downtown,” Kurnett said. “There was no downtown Alpharetta 33 years ago!”

Sid’s Pizza first debuted 19 years ago with a “surfer vibe” paying homage to Stan’s Southern Californian roots. The new Alpharetta Crossing outpost will be “more of your favorite 70s basement vibe,” Kurnett said. “We are in our mid 50s. We love that era, and the demographics are great for Alpharetta.”

The second Sid’s outpost is one of many to come. Kurnett said the concept has been franchised, putting them “one step closer to our dream.”

Since 2003, Sid’s has been known for its Sicilian-style pizza “inspired by a childhood growing up in California’s Mediterranean climate and eating fresh, delicious pizza at local beaches.” Sid’s also offers bowls, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and wings.
