The brand brought its Detroit-style pizzas and “Le Big Matt” double-stack burgers to Atlanta’s Glenwood Park in April of this year. Located at 475 Bill Kennedy Way SE, it took over the former space of the longstanding Shed restaurant. And now, a second Emmy Squared Pizza is being planned for 1009 Marietta St NW, an address that was previously home to men’s clothing store, Monck Mason Clothiers.
According to permit filings, an alcohol license was recently approved for the forthcoming location. Renovation work on the existing building at the address has been ongoing since May when a building permit application was filed with the City of Atlanta.
It will occupy suite A, a 5,280-square-foot space. Per floor plans, the restaurant will have regular dining, as well as bar dining and a lounge.
Emmy Squared Pizza is part of the Pizza Loves Emily family of restaurants which was co-founded by Emily Hyland and executive chef Matthew Hyland, alongside partners Howard Greenstone and Ken Levitan. The first restaurant opened in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in 2016, and is still in operation today.
Offering quality ingredients and deliciously unique toppings, the brand’s signature Detroit-style pizza is marked by its square shape, crispy bottom, fluffy dough, cheesy “frico” crust, and signature sauce stripes. Its famed “Le Big Matt” double-stack burger was named ‘#1 Best Burger in Nashville’ by The Tennessean and Nashville Lifestyles, voted one of ‘The Best New Burgers In NYC’ by Gothamist, and listed as one of the ’20 Best Burgers in NYC’ by The Infatuation. The burger is made with two beef patties topped with American cheese, special Sammy sauce, greens, and pickles on a pretzel bun
Salads, sandwiches served on pretzel buns, sides such as eggplant parm and cheesy garlic sticks, and desserts are also on the menu. An extensive list of drinks including beer, wine, spirits, and specialty cocktails like “Mom’s Twisted Tea” and “Hibiscus Tequila Punch” are available, as well. Brunch options are served on Saturdays and Sundays.
Besides its Atlanta and New York City locations, Emmy Squared Pizza has found its way to D.C., Kentucky, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia.
