Plans filed to convert former convenience store into Italian Ice outpost.
Rio’s Italian Ice (not to be confused with Rita’s), “the best Italian ice in Atlanta,” is expanding its food truck operation.
The mobile Italian ice vendor submitted plans to City of Atlanta Wednesday to convert a former convenience store, at 1518 Jonesboro Road, into a brick-and-mortar Rio’s.
Flavors like Bomb Pop Rainbow, N.Y. Coconut, and Orange Pineapple will be served out of the 1,195-square-foot retail space.
Rio’s will open its first location this March, according to the Italian ice retailer’s website.

That’s a bad location for walk-in/drive by traffic. Unless they are primarily using that as their base of operations, I don’t think that will work out for them.
Carl, You hit the nail on the head! We are using the location as our base of operations! We actually love the location and feel the neighborhood has tons of potential! After spending 6 years in Conyers (Tasty Treats Italian Ice) We are looking forward to a new start working with the Historic South Atlanta neighborhood and all of the surrounding areas!

We manufacture all of the Italian Ice we serve out of this location. We are primarily a catering company that specializes in Festivals, Events, Fundraisers, and corporate catering. We are currently looking for a location to put our Italian Ice Food Truck. My wife Noreen and I would like to thank everyone for supporting us….although we were unable to find a location this year because of the late start…we are already preparing for 2016…..We are open to suggestions….if you have a good location in mind…give us a call.
