Located across from Trilith Studios, the town center will welcome Honeysuckle Gelato at a grand opening ceremony on April 30. Amici Italian Cafe will be opening sometime in May.

A former Atlanta-based gelato food truck, Honeysuck Gelato will continue to serve Italian-style ice cream with a Southern spin, baked goods, and cakes.

“We have an exciting announcement coming soon,” the shop posted to Facebook on Monday. “Stay tuned y’all.”

Long-time friends Jackson Smith, Wes Jones, and Khatera Ballard launched Honeysuckle Gelato in 2011 with a mission of making bad days good and good days better by creating delicious gelato and joyful experiences. Now in Charlotte and Ponce City Market, the ice cream shop is in the process of opening more stores throughout the Southeast, according to its website.

“It’s completed,” Town at Trilith posted to Facebook on Sunday. “Stop by Town Centre to see the Honeysuckle Gelato mural that pays tribute to the gelato shop’s beginnings as a food truck.”

First opened in Madison, Georgia in 1993, Amici Italian Cafe will reportedly serve its signature dishes such as its wings and pizza, in addition to beer brewed at their on-site brewery as the Italian cafe continues to grow.

The two join a growing list of retailers and restaurants in the 234-acre, mixed-use development.

(Editor’s Note: This story has been edited to clarify the opening dates for both restaurants.)
