Selig Enterprises is planning to convert about 8,000 square feet of retail space into a new entrance with two restaurants, Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. The changes would include an outdoor patio, large windows and a refreshed breezeway leading into the shopping center.
An under-construction pedestrian bridge will also connect the BeltLine to the mall, giving visitors on the trail easier access to the open-air shopping center and its future restaurants.
Project manager Vance Woodcox told What Now Atlanta that tenants for the restaurant space are not decided yet.
Selig Enterprises has owned the property located at 1544 Piedmont Road NE, in the heart of Midtown, for decades. Existing businesses at Ansley Mall include Publix, LA Fitness, and restaurants like Bantam + Biddy, Vinny’s N.Y. Pizza + Grill, and Brooklyn Bagel Bakery and Deli.
According to Atlanta Business Chronicle, the space set to be renovated for the new restaurants was formerly occupied by a laundromat and The Hideaway, a bar beloved by the local LGBTQ community.
An official with Selig Enterprises said it’s too early to determine the costs and timeline of construction for the project, the news outlet reports.
