The non-profit organization will move its national headquarters to Hosea + 2nd in the first quarter of 2019, upon completion of its office build out.
“Purpose Built Communities will bring daytime activity to the four corners that will complement the other businesses,” Nathan Bolster of RevDevStudio, a partner in the Hosea + 2nd project, said in the release.
“They are a great fit, and we are all excited for them to call East Lake home. We consider this a vote of confidence in the community and in the contextual approach to development we have taken here at Hosea + 2nd.”
Purpose Built Communities was established in 2009 to help local leaders replicate the successful East Lake neighborhood revitalization model in other urban areas of concentrated poverty around the nation.
Philanthropists Warren Buffett and Julian Robertson joined Atlanta-based Tom Cousins in backing the organization, which is chaired by former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin.
The nonprofit joins Greater Good BBQ, Poor Hendrix, Mix’D Up Burgers, and Mary Hoopa’s at Hosea + 2nd.
More tenants are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, including the signing of a lease with a bakery/café, according to Bolster.

I hope this BBQ place actually smells like BBQ when driving by unlike Greater Good. Who wants to eat a BBQ place that doesn’t smell like Smokey BBQ goodness?
Is the new place gonna be BBQ as well?
I hope not. If I show up at a place called Lake and Oak I’m expecting over-priced tapas, not a mound of pulled pork.
LOL, totes!
Seems like this development has had a lot of turnover, I’m wondering how it’s doing– generally speaking.
Keeps the riff raff out.
Huh?
