Lettum Eat is developing a full-service kitchen at 121 Maddox Street in Lawrenceville.
Founded by Chef Hank Reid in 2019, Lettum Eat is a Snellville-based mobile food service and nonprofit organization focused on hunger relief in Gwinnett County and other areas of metro Atlanta. They offer delivery and pick-up services, as well as food truck tours to designated areas, such as low-income neighborhoods.
Reid told What Now Atlanta that having their own MPKs (modular production kitchens) will allow them to operate more independently, as they initially sought partnerships with community church kitchens.
“The MPK project offers our organization operational independence,” he wrote in an email. “Our goal has always been to own our own kitchen spaces.”
Meal pick-up and delivery will still be the most frequent services provided by the organization, along with their food truck events, but the physical location will be open at scheduled times for visitors to have the opportunity to dine there.
“The stationary MPKs now give us a location to offer restaurant-quality service free to those who need the assist, while others who can afford to pay knowingly support the ministry,” Reid said.
They hope to bring more kitchens to different areas in the state following the development of this inaugural one.
According to a building permit filing, the space will be 960 square feet. The land was donated by the Lawrenceville Housing Authority. Reid said they are hoping it will be ready the week of Thanksgiving.
