Hooters’ competitor, Twin Peaks, submitted an application to City of Atlanta to receive a building permit to begin construction on its fist Georgia location.

The Texas-based franchise chain will open inside Tower Place at 3365 Piedmont Road, according to the permit application filed at the end of March.

An estimated $938,000 will be spent to covert the 5,100-square-foot two-story office space.

Twin Peaks was not immediately available for comment.

  1. Buckhead needs this like a hole in the head. Seriously, the 85 other strip clubs in Buckhead aren’t enough? Haven’t we reached saturation on this already? Is it possible to get some more sophisticated entertainment and cultural options in Buckhead or will we always be trying to appease the redneck, conservative elements that run this city??

  2. Who cares. Every since they nuked the Buckhead Village years ago I stopped going to Buckhead all together. There are much, much better parts of town to enjoy a night out.

  3. Haha…Atlanta – bringing chains that appeal to white trash into a neighborhood near you. So glad to be saying goodbye to this dump.

  4. Woah, woah, woah. This isn’t a strip club. This is a breastaurant. Big difference. And 2., it’s not the redneck conservative elements that run this city, it’s the blacks. But I wouldn’t expect a person that can’t distinguish a strip club from a breastaurant to distinguish who runs this town.

  5. Unless I’m mistaken, this is a Hooters-esque restaurant, and not a strip club. Unfortunately. Urbanist leaving Atlanta is a tremendous civic favor on his/her/its part. Guess his/her/its mom has finally rented out the basement to a paying tenant. Long live Atlanta.

  6. Jules,
If you really think there is a difference between and strip club and a breastaurant then you should probably go and get your helmet and gloves before you hurt yourself. Here is the difference, one allows kids (for those parents stupid enough to bring them), and one requires their tops to stay on. Other than that, in both locations they serve food (secondary to the entertainment), both are full of girls trying to “pay their way through college” and both are full of girls showing themselves off for money. So there isnt much of a difference.

  7. This place is going to be printing money

    – Business lunch crowd
    – Nighttime business / traveler crowd
    – Weekend local / tourist crowd

  8. Sadly, T is right. This place will prob do allright – pathetic good ol’ boys in cheap ties, weekend hicks who think Buckhead epitomizes “class”, and tourists who vacation in Atlanta…such is life in a manure minefield

  9. @Urbanist

So if Atlanta is a manure minefield for a Twin Peaks and a Hooters, what does that make places like NYC that have Hooters and the well respected Canz-a-Citi? Or Chicago’s Hooters and Crabby Kim’s Bikini Bar? Or maybe Hooters and the classy named Box, in D.C? But I forgot, in your idealistic world these kinds of things only occur in Atlanta, and rather than acting like a simple adult and giving your patronage to establishments that deserve it, you piss away your time bitching on here about restaurants that are going into locations that any true urbanist wouldnt give two s****s about when there are much bigger fish to fry. Hell you have even spent many of days bashing Buckhead, rightfully so, but who cares what happens there anyways. It shouldnt be a priority in the realm of urban improvement in Atlanta with elements that need improving such as Downtown, Midtown, and mass transit. But yet again, its just your way continuing to bitch. I would say thank goodness that you are leaving Atlanta, but you will be one of those types that no matter where you go, your life will remain so simple and uneventful that you will still come on here on a regular basis just so you can spew your pathetic vile, because that will be the one thing that brings your uneventful life joy.

Which is all really quite a shame, because it is not like you are devoid of good ideas. Many of them are sound solutions or at least a good start to improving areas of places like say Midtown, but they are all clouded and overshadowed by your constant complaining and whining. Complaining, whining, and energy that could be used in places that truly need it, not in places where say a chain tex mex place decides to locate itself in a shopping center that is so far removed from urbanism who would really care anyways. Put the horse before the cart. Complain about the strip shopping center, thats the root of the problem. Not some shitty chain restaurant that goes in it. And even if 5 star restaurant found its way in there you would just complain because they wouldnt be locating themselves in the heart of the city. It doesnt matter with you regardless. Try taking a hint from ATL Urbanist’s playbook. Maybe you could learn a thing or two about priorities and how to take joy in the things that are good, while focusing your energy on things that can be changed.

  10. @BC –

“So if Atlanta is a manure minefield for a Twin Peaks and a Hooters, what does that make places like NYC that have Hooters and the well respected Canz-a-Citi?”

It makes those places cities incredibly diverse places, with a roster of restaurants and entertainment options, at every price level, that are recognized across the world as “best in class”…with a handful of crappy places like this scattered around tourist hubs. It makes them places that – for every one of these gimmicky, trashy restaurants – have thousands of top-notch options.

“but who cares what happens there anyways”

How about anyone who cares about what happens to the city as a whole? How about anyone that recognizes the potential value of the real estate in that area of the city? How about someone who would like for an area that is home to some of the wealthiest zip codes in the city, not to usher in tenants that are more suited for a community of trailer parks?

“It shouldnt be a priority in the realm of urban improvement in Atlanta with elements that need improving such as Downtown, Midtown, and mass transit.”

Yes, you should just neglect one area of the city, because there are other areas of the city that need improvement too. Great theory.

“but you will be one of those types that no matter where you go, your life will remain so simple and uneventful that you will still come on here on a regular basis just so you can spew your pathetic vile, because that will be the one thing that brings your uneventful life joy.”

Haha…you nailed it. My life is absent of any exterior stimulus because I post on here every once in a while. Good God, you’re friggin brilliant. And by brilliant, I mean an idiot, in this case.

It’s doubtful I’ll be on here very much anymore as soon as I leave, as there won’t be a reason to. I check into this site, as it provides a lot of good information as to what’s opening where, what new developments are happeneing, and other things that I don’t already know about. Occasionally there is some positive news on here, and when there is, I greet it with positive commentary. However, the vast majority of the news on here is about another burger joint, another dumpy chain restaurant, or another wasteful development project, and I greet that news with deservingly negative commentary. I’ll care less when I’m gone, as I simply won’t be here, and the that open up won’t really effect me.

It’s really just a more economic use of my personal time – I could stay here and continue to spend my time frequenting the same handful of decent places in this city, while constantly being disappointed with the lack of options, and having to listen to the cheers from apathetic morons who don’t understand the concept of opportunity cost (despite their GSU degree in “business”) and originality. Or, I could move somewhere else, led by a much more effective government, where I can be surrounded by far more intelligent people who speak out against things that are problematic and work to make changes, instead of just shrugging it off, while their city disentigrates around them.

  11. Wow, Urbanist! I bet you had to grab a table at the Cumberland Mall Food Court before you banged out that response.

    Enjoy your Chic-fil-A.

  12. Might have a better chance than not with the founder’s son operating. Coby Brooks is involved in the Twin Peaks venture, his father was responsible for Hooter;s success.

  13. “How about someone who would like for an area that is home to some of the wealthiest zip codes in the city..”

The wealthy who can are selling and leaving. It’s been said before that Atlanta had it’s chance to become a great city. it didn’t. And this recent spurt of growth(20 years) will likely never be back to Atlanta in our lifetimes.

It’s kind of a sad ending, but Atlanta deserves all the blame.

  14. @Dick

Coby Brooks being involved almost entirely ensures it will be a failure. The holding company that bought Hooters got it for pennies on the dollar because of what happened during Coby’s tenure after Bob Brooks died.

  15. Classy.

Also, Jules, I wouldn’t say it’s the blacks who run this town. Developers and retired executives have a whole lotta pull in Atlanta.

Blacks certainly have a good deal of political power but look who has most of the money.

  16. Went by here the other night and as far as the space itself goes they did not spare any expense. Nice TVs all over the place – at one point I counted 12 that were in my line of sight without having to turn too far to the right or left.

They also built this place at a breakneck pace. There was not a time of day, early morning or even late night, when I did not see workers here.

It will do very well during football season.
