Restauranteur Gocha Hawkins in a press release recently announced that Gocha’s Tapas Bar will open for business on Tuesday, November 1, 2022.
Housed in the Publix-anchored Sandtown Crossing, at 5829 Campbellton Rd SW, the tapas restaurant and bar’s interior space is over 1,500 square feet with a 2,100 square-foot patio.
The opening of Gocha’s Tapas Bar is the next step of Hawkins’ growing roster of eateries which includes two current breakfast bar locations — in Atlanta (opened in January 2019) and Fayetteville (opened in January 2020) — and a food truck.
“I’m so excited to be expanding our footprint in the restaurant industry by creating a tapas bar,” Hawkins said in the release. “With the tapas bar, I wanted to open a space where locals and visitors to the community can get together, socialize and enjoy themselves.”
Menu items at Gocha’s Tapas Bar will include: shishito peppers; patatas bravas; impossible sliders; fried green tomatoes with crab salad pineapples, grapefruit and remoulade; stuffed crab mushrooms; caprese salad; smoked salmon chips; calamari with red peppers; fry trio (which includes regular fries, truffle fries and sweet potato fries); Brussels sprouts; fried lobster; vegetable tempura; lobster rolls; ceviche; tuna tartare; and more.
“Guests will also have the chance to taste yummy cocktails and occasionally dance to a live DJ and band,” the release notes.
With nearly 30 years in the beauty industry, Hawkins initially gained her own fame as a hairstylist to celebrities such as Kandi Burruss, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, Drake, and Serena Williams, according to the release. For several years, Hawkins also consulted for the cheerleaders for the Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, Detroit Pistons, and the Atlanta Hawks.
