D’Bo’s Daiquiris Wings and Seafood will open its first Atlanta location at 349 Decatur Street SE soon, combining suites D and E at the Pencil Factory Flats into one space.
“We’re really excited about this Atlanta market,” owner Julian Boyd told What Now Atlanta. “We know we’re gonna knock it out of the park.”
Boyd’s parents, David and Leticia, founded the business in August 1990. The food truck grew into two brick-and-mortar locations in Memphis, and then eventually, a location in Detroit, showing the franchise potential of the brand. (There was also a location in Riverdale, Georgia, from 2001-2006.)
“I’m very thankful for my parents,” Boyd said. “I grew up in the business. My Fridays and Saturdays were spent at the business. Running the company at this level and to focus on the franchise growth and development, I’m able to impact lives and create generational wealth.”
The brand has racked up national recognition, including taking first place in their category at New York’s National Buffalo Wing Festival in 2011, being voted one of the Top 15 Wing Spots in the U.S. by Men’s Journal in 2016, and being voted Best Wings in the Mid-South for more than 25 years.
Benny Bryant and Oscar Davis III are the brand’s franchise partners for the Atlanta location.
D’Bo’s serves whole and boneless chicken wings, customized with seasonings and sauces like Honey Hot, Garlic Parmesan and Lemon Pepper, as well as tenders, seafood, burgers, sandwiches and plenty of sides. Vegetarians will be pleased to find a lot of options, including the Mem-Possible plant-based burger. The Atlanta location will also serve brunch, which has been a hit at the Detroit store.
Atlanta made perfect sense for the next outpost of D’Bo’s, said Boyd, a graduate of Morehouse College.
D’Bos Wings will also be expanding to Florida in 2024, with locations coming to Winterhaven and Jacksonville in the spring.
As the brand continues to grow, they look forward to connecting with the city of Atlanta.
“We’re looking to improve the community by creating jobs, creating opportunities. Be a positive light in the city of Atlanta while representing good ol’ Memphis,” Boyd said.
