The 25-year-old restaurant, at 2985 Grandview Avenue NE, temporarily shuttered late last year when Basil’s suffered an electrical fire.

Walter Jordan, founder of The Dogwood Restaurant Consulting Group, told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in a telephone interview Tuesday the restaurant and bar could open in the third week of March.

Jordan and his team are expediting the building and liquor permitting process for Basil’s so the restaurant can move forward with construction.

“Normally, the permitting process with City of Atlanta takes three months,” Jordan said. “Dogwood Restaurant Consulting is obtaining the necessary permits in 30 to 45 days.”

Joseph Kahwach, Basil’s owner, is taking advantage of the opportunity to rebuild by redesigning the space and reopening with some new menu items.

  1. Jordan is a crook. He owes $1,000’s to restaurants he has worked for as a manager. He is a part of the Kaseem Reed syndicate, of course he is greasing palms to get quick permits while us regular folks have to go through the red tape. This city is crooked as peachtree street.

    1. I am a regular reader of this blog and currently own three local establishments. I make it part of my routine, to stay abreast on openings and closings in this industry. Please keep up the great work WNA. I was compelled to reply to the comment made of Mr. Jordans company and services. I have utilized Mr. Jordan on all 3 of my current businesses. It is not that he ever greases any palms as accused, it is that he has professional relationships and knows how and when to execute the permit process. I checked all references before hiring him and got stellar feedback. I can now add myself to that list. You cannot smear good work ethics when a simple phone call is all that is needed to confirm the quality of services in this city. It is a small community of business owners. Now back to reading. Cheers all!

  2. I’m not sure who this person this individual is referring, but the Walter Jordan I’ve known for years has done excellent work for me on two projects that I’ve been apart of. I’m not quite sure if you could afford him or if you followed his instructions, but I can attest if you follow his instructions you will have a successful restaurant opening. This pertains to your comment about Mr. Jordan being apart of the Mayor’s regime. By the way the (correct spelling) of the Mayor’s name is Kasim. I know that this isn’t true because he follows all the protocol with liquor licenses and building permits as everyone else. It’s truly sad that we as business owners try to degrade a person’s character when you truly don’t know the individual. Again my company has been very successful with the guidance of Walter Jordan and the testimony on his website speaks for themselves. (www.dwrcgroup.com)

  3. Congratulations to Basil and your upcoming reopening!

I see you have Walter Jordan and The Dogwood Restaurant Consulting Group assisting you in the building and liquor permit process. YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS! I have worked with Mr. Jordan in the past year with 3 of our restaurants and I don’t know what we would have done without his expertise and direction. He is very knowledgeable about permit requirements and has the respect of all departments who facilitate the process. The opening and/or reopening of a restaurant is exhausting and while we concentrated on all the physical tasks of pulling the building together from a construction standpoint, Mr. Jordan really helped to alleviate the anxiety that attaining necessary permits can cause, allowing us to open on time and in compliance.

We have never had a problem with his character or any financial suspicions. He has always represented himself as a man of integrity and has always been transparent with all transactions. All of our businesses are in compliance with permits and licenses and we owe a lot of that to Walter Jordan!
