Authentic Steak & Seafood is aiming for an October opening date.

Walter Jordan of the Dogwood Restaurant Group, which is working with owner Nikivada White, said a major goal of the new spot at 2997 Campbellton Road is to revitalize an area that has been overlooked for years. The space was once occupied by Deja Vu Sports Bar and Lounge.

White has managed several restaurants in Atlanta, and this latest venture hits close to home. She was raised not far from Campbelltown Road, and still remembers when a Ponderosa Steakhouse located on Campbelltown Road was a major spot for high school sports banquets and bringing together the community. That helped sparked the idea for opening a steakhouse at the location, Jordan said.

“When this opportunity came up, it was a no-brainer,” Jordan told What Now Atlanta.

The 6,000 square foot restaurant will have an outdoor patio and feature live entertainment in the form of jazz music. It will also be available for private events.

“It is very quaint and sophisticated location,” Jordan said.

The menu, which Jordan said aims to be more affordable compared to other steakhouses, will include several different cuts of steaks, filet mignon, calamari, raw and chargrilled oysters, and several sides and salads.

The business goes before the Neighborhood Planning Unit in September with the aim of opening the second week of October.

“The neighborhood is going to be truly excited,” Jordan said.
