New Franchisee thinks they’ve got what it takes

UPDATE (Feb. 1, 2012): Evos Midtown reopens, yawns, closes again

EVOS Restaurant will reopen its Midtown location in February 2011, according to a sign recently posted on the restaurant’s main entrance.

Located at 855 Peachtree Street at Viewpoint, the restaurant closed on Oct. 28 (story here).

You have spoken and we have listened. EVOS is pleased to announce that we will be re-opening our doors in February 2011 under new management.”

But who spoke up that they were listening to? Cash cows don’t close. Failing restaurants that nobody eats at do.

And as attractive as it might be to reopen a preestablished restaurant, we’d personally like to meet the franchisee who thinks that they can run a failing location for this failing concept.

The hiring process for the location began on Dec. 13, when the restaurant placed an ad on Craigslist.org (story here).

It will be interesting to see how the restaurant fares against 5 Guys Burgers and Fries, slated to open directly across the street at Spire in early 2011.

What’s you think? Can new management breath life into EVOS Viewpoint?

  1. First of all, judging a restaurant by the fact that it reorganized has no bearing on the quality of the service and product. People are sometimes the issue, and as we know, just like Mr. Obama, people promise things the could not deliver. To err is human. So I guess my point is that everyone is entitled to his opinion, but skepticism has no place in empathetic prose. Good luck EVOS, screw What Now Atlanta

  2. How President Obama figures into this is beyond me. The food at Evos was subpar. Five Guys will do well, though.

  3. Evos is a chain restaurant with some successful locations. It’s possible the old management just didn’t do a good job in terms of food quality. Maybe new people will do a better job.

Also, when is Chipotle going to open in one of the Viewpoint retail spaces???

  4. LOL. This has been one of your funniest post. I haven’t ate at evos yet but I heard that the burgers and fries just aren’t the same with out the oil and grease. Well I will make sure to taste it before it closes down again.

  5. Vortex, Five Guys, Evos… quite an array of burgers right there on Peachtree St at 7th. Just a short walk away on West Peachtree at 7th is The Daiquiri Factory.

If you prefer a little more vibe and an adult beverage or two with your adult burger, check it out. late night hours, too

  6. What I’ve always liked about Evos is that my stomach doesn’t lurch and rubmle after eating their burgers, unlike the greasier joints. I’m glad they’re reopening in Midtown.

  7. I’ve tried to explain this to you guys before that restaurants are ALL about who’s running them, even for a chain. Now I’m not going to say this will succeed because its a tough business but a change in management can make a huge difference.

  8. Move over Five Guys, its a new world. People are looking for healthy alternatives to the burger these days and Evos offers that. Their food’s not bad and there’s not a whole lot of competition in the “healthy fast food” market, so as long as they have good management I think they will succeed!

  9. Finally tried this place. Sorry, but it’s good! It may not be the right concept (and the parking situation is not the best), but really like it.

I read this and the “Tomorrow’s News Today” blog, and both have pegged this as a failed concept. It may be. But, I wish it didn’t have to be. The food is good and healthy. Why is the “concept” trump that?

I’ll be sad if it closes. But, I can’t deny that the difficult parking and concept probably makes that likely.
